Bonus Content: ON Semiconductor Reports Today. The Real Question Is Whether 2027 Earns That Discount.
Let’s be real for a second.
While most traders are still squinting at lagging indicators and trying to “guess” where the next move is coming from…
My top AI trading engine is already light years ahead.
I’ve spent months and a small fortune making sure this engine outclasses any other trading tool you’ll find out there.
And right now, it’s flagging the kind of setups that typically stay hidden behind the velvet ropes of hedge funds and institutional banks.
I’m talking about the ability to:
- Identify moves before they even register on a standard chart.
- Target “time-warp” returns that can compress years of gains into days.
- Choose your own risk so you never have to “bet the farm” to see results.
If you still haven’t grabbed your free access, I have to ask… What are you waiting for?
The market isn’t going to slow down for you. The robots running the show today certainly won’t wait for you to catch up.

ON Semiconductor Reports Today. The Real Question Is Whether 2027 Earns That Discount.

Hey there, bargain hunter. While the rest of the chip world spent last Friday watching Intel plunge about 28.6% and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index shed about 9.1% in a single session, a quieter story was unfolding in auto and industrial silicon. ON Semiconductor reports Q3 2026 results today, and for once the question is not whether the company beats a number. The question is whether the non-AI half of semiconductors has actually found solid ground, or whether the recent recovery is a ledge dressed up as a floor.
Scoreboard
Consensus heading into today sits at $0.88 non-GAAP EPS on roughly $1.70-$1.71 billion in revenue. The company’s own guidance range was $0.81 to $0.93 on $1.65-$1.75 billion in sales. For context: Q3 2023 non-GAAP EPS was $1.39. Today’s $0.88 consensus, if hit, would represent a sharp year-over-year recovery off the cycle low, but still sits meaningfully below peak earnings. ON’s stock enters today lower amid last week’s sector selloff and a read-across from NXP Semiconductors, which reported Q3 results last week and paired solid results with cautious Q4 commentary around auto.
What ON Semiconductor Actually Is
onsemi makes power management, silicon carbide, and sensing chips. Its two biggest end markets are automotive (about half of revenue) and industrial. Neither segment has anything to do with GPU training runs or AI inference clusters, which is precisely why this report matters. It is one of the cleanest listed reads on whether the demand cycle for cars and factories has genuinely recovered. AI data centers are now a growing third leg, with management guiding full-year data center revenue to more than double in 2026, but the auto and industrial business still determines the multiple.
The Numbers That Matter
- Auto revenue: $797M in Q1 2026, $781M in Q2 2026. Trend is constructive.
- China SiC share: Management said its silicon carbide content share among new EV models at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show was approximately 55%. China automotive SiC revenue is expected to grow 60-70% this year.
- Gross margin: Q3 guidance is 40-42% non-GAAP. Watch for whether margin expands toward the higher end as utilization firms up.
- 2027 EPS estimate: Analysts project $4.53, up from 2026’s estimated $3.20, on revenue of roughly $7.4 billion.
Is It Cheap?
At roughly $75.85, ON trades at about 16-22x forward earnings depending on which estimate set you use. Texas Instruments trades at 32-36x. Analog Devices sits at 23-47x depending on the source and timeframe. Even Microchip Technology, deep in its own cycle trough, commands a premium. ON’s discount to peers reflects two legitimate concerns: lower gross margins than TI or ADI, and heavy China and automotive exposure at a moment when NXP’s cautious Q4 outlook just spooked the sector.
The valuation gap between ON and its analog peers is not arbitrary. Texas Instruments commands that premium partly because its data center analog revenue has become a second growth engine alongside industrial — a mix shift ON has not yet demonstrated at scale.
The counter-argument is straightforward. If 2027 EPS of $4.53 is achievable, you are paying roughly 17x that number today. That is not the price of a broken business. It is the price of a business whose recovery the market has not yet decided to trust.
Bull, Base, Bear
Bull: Q3 lands at the high end of guidance, Q4 guide comes in above current estimates, and management confirms the China SiC ramp is on track. The auto cycle accelerates in 2027 as 900-volt EV architectures create new silicon carbide content per vehicle. ON re-rates toward 22-25x forward earnings. At 22x the 2027 $4.53 consensus, you get a stock above $99.
Base: Q3 meets consensus, Q4 guidance is roughly in line. The recovery continues at a measured pace, margins expand modestly toward 43-44% by mid-2027, and the stock grinds toward analyst average targets near $104.
Bear: NXP’s cautious Q4 auto tone proves correct and ON signals a softer December quarter. The China EV market slows faster than expected. 2027 estimates get trimmed, and the stock finds a new, lower equilibrium around $60-$65 as the sector selloff deepens into November.
The U.S. Military Has a January 1st Crisis
That’s when a hard Pentagon deadline kicks in… banning Chinese-sourced materials from every missile, fighter jet and satellite America builds.
Meaning, in less than two months, America’s entire defense industry could come to a grinding halt.
But I believe Trump is sitting on a $16 Trillion Chess Move nobody sees coming.

Action Plan
Do not buy ahead of the report. The sector backdrop is hostile: Intel’s guidance shock, Morgan Stanley warning of another 10-15% downside in the SOX index into mid-November, and NXP’s softer Q4 hand all argue for patience. If ON delivers Q3 results at or above the midpoint of guidance AND provides Q4 direction above current estimates, that is the first entry point, scaled over two or three tranches across the next 60 days. Position size should reflect that automotive demand signals from NXP are mixed at best.
Cheap Investor Checklist
- Q3 non-GAAP EPS: beats $0.88 consensus?
- Q4 revenue guidance midpoint: above $1.75B?
- Gross margin Q3 actual: at or above 41%?
- China automotive SiC commentary: 60-70% growth target maintained?
- AI data center doubling in 2026: on track per management?
- Management tone on Q4 auto demand: stable or cautious?
- Forward P/E post-results vs TXN spread: narrowing or widening?
- 2027 EPS estimate revisions post-call: up, flat, or down?
Bottom Line
If ON clears $0.88 today and guides Q4 above current expectations, the discount to peers begins to look like an opportunity rather than a warning sign. If management echoes NXP’s cautious auto tone, the gap between ON’s forward multiple and the sector may be entirely justified. Watch the Q4 guide first. The 2027 earnings story is the one that either makes or breaks this as a recovery trade.
